I have other questions, how can I get help? #

You can either:

What do you do? #

Our mission at DATASOLUTION is to make things easier for everyone.

It starts with creating and maintaining the CI/CD pipelines for all projects, with a focus on standardization and safety so that switching between projects doesn’t require learning new tools and processes.

It also extends to automating the boring or dangerous tasks required by someone’s job.

We mainly work with developers, project managers, and Infrastructure team, but we’ll gladly provide support to anyone whose daily workflow can be improved with automation.

On La Carte , you’ll find a list of everything we already offer.

If your need is not covered, simply reach out to us, and we’ll see what we can do for you!

What’s your scope? #

We are officially responsible for the following tools that we identify as the development platform:

For all the other tools, like Teams, Wallix, Jira… we are just regular users, and they are the responsibility of our DSI ❤️, the Infrastructure team or their own development team.

What are the rules to follow to work with the DevOps team? #

  1. Assign the team on a project task on DATAPROJECTS
  2. Schedule a slot for a team member on DATAPLANNER - 069 - DEVOPS
  3. Create a support/Jira issue on Support Portal or directly in your Jira project

How can an external user access one of our tools? #

This is valid for customers, partners, and contractors.

First, ask the DSI to create a .ext@datasolution.fr account for them: Create external account

Then, create an Access Request for that user: Access Request

Note regarding GitLab: It is currently accessible via HTTPS over the Internet, however SSH access is restricted to internal IPs (offices and VPN). If needed, submit a VPN access request to the DSI .

What the thumbs?! 👍👎 #

Once a support request has been treated by one of our team members, it’s in a TO TEST status, waiting for you to approve or reject the solution provided.

Please, don’t forget to use one of the thumbs to express your opinion:

What the thumbs

Otherwise, issues pile up, we don’t know if our work was helpful, and they are automatically closed after being ignored for two weeks.

CI/CD? Pipeline? #

One of our main focuses is to set up and maintain a CI/CD pipeline for every project in order to automate, secure, and simplify code deployments.

While CI (Continuous Integration) is handled by GitLab, CD (Continuous Deployment) is handled by Octopus Deploy.

Here is a simple illustration of the Pipeline DATASOLUTION™ :

Pipeline DATASOLUTION

Depending on project constraints (customer requirements, budget, etc.), each part can be substituted or skipped altogether. For instance, some customers want to rely on their own CI tooling while using Octopus for deployments.

The goal is to use the Pipeline DATASOLUTION™ everywhere, but we can always find a (DATA)solution to work with project constraints.

Why has my Octopus project been disabled? #

Octopus licenses are limited, so we periodically archive projects that have shown no activity (no deployment or runbook execution) in the past 90 days.

Don’t worry — no data is lost. We can reactivate your project at any time by submitting a support request .

The cleaning process runs every Sunday. Please be mindful that if a project is reenabled but sees no activity before the next Sunday, it will be disabled again.

Personal account/token or service account? #

To answer this question, simply ask yourself: “Where does the process using it run?”.

  • On a workstation? Personal account or token.
  • On a server? Service account.

To obtain a service account, go through an Access Request.

When is the development platform maintenance window scheduled? #

To keep the tools updated and in good operating condition, a maintenance window is set up every Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM (Europe/Paris).

For GitLab APAC, the maintenance window is from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM (Europe/Paris).

During this period, the tools may be unavailable.

Therefore, it is strongly recommended to plan no actions during this time slot.

If you encounter any issues after the maintenance, don’t hesitate to contact us .

How is project versioning managed in GitLab? #

Developers create the branches and the Merge Requests.
The CI automatically manages versions, tags, and synchronization.

Git Flow DATASOLUTION

Key takeaway: do not modify versions or tags manually. Wait for the pipeline to succeed and retrieve the automatic commits before continuing.

What are the roles for SonarQube? #

Two roles are defined:

  • reader which allows read-only access (corresponds to Browse Project)
  • developer which allows managing issues (corresponds to Browse Project + See Source Code + Administer Issues + Administer Security Hotspots)

See the official documentation .

For other actions, handled by administrators, go through an Access Request or a generic request .

How to set up the GitLab MCP server? #

To avoid polluting the GitLab instances, you must use a single OAuth Application to configure your agents.

Check the dedicated page Setup GitLab MCP server on agents for the details of the configuration per agent.
